This Sesame Street Kids Birthday Cake was my first cake decorating attempt, and I got some of the ideas from this website browsing at cakes. The bottom part is made by 2 layers of 1/2 sheet cake size (box mix kind) with homemade chocolate frosting. The characters were made with the Wilton mini-bear pan with the ears cut off, the directions say to bake with a full cup of batter, but I found that spilled over so I used a little less.
I dyed white store bought frosting with Wilton gel dye, and used star tips to cover the bodies. The eyes are made from mini-marshmallows, and the black is gel frosting. The cake was very time consuming to pipe all those little stars but all the kids at the party thought it was great!
