My 3 year loves sharks and since I was not able to find a shark cake pan I decided to get creative and make a shark birthday cake of my own. I did find a shark cake that was similar on this site.
I did a search online to find a simple shark picture to use on the cake. I made a 9×13 yellow cake. I then frosted the cake with blue buttercream frosting. I used the spatula to create a wave-like pattern across the top of the cake. I then cut out the picture of the shark and traced it onto the top of the cake. I traced the outline of the shark with gray frosting. I then filled in the shark with a small star tip.
Using a knife dipped in hot water, I smoothed out the shark. I then used white frosting to create the eye and teeth. I added gills and eyeball with black. To finish the cake I used green frosting to create a seaweed effect. Lastly I freehanded the saying onto the cake.
It was a big hit with my 3 year-old shark loving boy.
My 4 year old is mad about sharks too and wants a shark cake for his birthday next month so thanks very much for the tips – the cake looks fab!!!!
I love your cake. This is so creative and doesn’t look complicated. My son loves sharks and this is perfect.
my son turns 3 end of July, can NOT wait to make this. I hope it turns out as good as yours
thanks for the great idea!
