I made this ski boat cake out of a half sheet cake, cut it in half, glued it together with butter cream frosting and then shaped it. I used fondant pieces to make the boat details. The figurines were made out of dolls and arms reglued into the position they needed to be. Strings were attached to the skiers and then tied together and placed them in a plastic cut dowel which goes right in the cake. These 15 skiers were attached to a paint stick with a rod supporting it in the back.
I screwed the pyramid into a covered board which was iced with frosting. This cake was for a Webfooters ski team members birthday party. Birthday boy did no let anyone eat the cake on his birthday because he wanted to bring it to school and show it too his classmates! That made me so happy to see how excited he was!
This is the neatest cake ever – not to mention it made our waterskiing birthday boy so excited!
It was a HIT!!!!
This was a team effort for bringing this cake together. I had help with the pyramid part of the cake. Mom and Dad had a hand in that aspect and did a great job! Thank you for posting their son’s birthday cake!
This is quite a piece of art. I can tell it took time to accomplish. Very good job.
WOW! The time it took to make this cake, it is awesome.
Way cool…let’s take it for a spin around the lake…lol
