I created this Snow White cake for a friend’s daughter’s 5th birthday. I used a Snow White doll she provided. I baked the skirt using the Wilton Doll pan and the base using the Wilton 12″ round pan.
I used three Pillsbury strawberry cakes with an extra egg & 1/4 cup flour per cake and baked the cakes about a week ahead and refrigerated. I also made up the fondant and gum paste for the flowers and clothing at that time. This was the first time I had made my own and I really like working with it a lot better than the purchased variety.
Three days ahead I made up the gum paste flowers, apples, basket and bluebird. The next day I glazed them with a simple syrup I created and tinted various colors. I also frosted the base cake and assembled the two cakes and put a layer of buttercream over the skirt. Then I tinted part of the fondant gold and covered the skirt. One day ahead I completed the doll using red fondant for the cape and blue for the top. I used mini-marshmallows to “puff” the sleeves. I added the gum paste flowers around the waist to hide the seam. Then I added the “grass” around the base cake and added the rest of the decorations.
I live in Overland Park my daughter wants a snow white cake! You willing to make one?
