This was my first attempt at a tiered cake for a little girls 4th birthday. The birthday girl wanted a snow white theme, so I came up with the idea for a Snow White cottage cake in the woods.
The first tier is a 10 inch round chocolate cake with vanilla frosting, and the second tier is an 8inch golden cake with chocolate frosting.
All the accents are made with homemade buttercream and store bought fondant. All accents are edible with the exception of Snow White, Prince Charming and Dopey.
The crown cake topper is made from Gum Paste and the jewels were glues on after it dried.
The grass was made with the Wilton grass tip, the rocks and pebbles are chocolate candies bought from a bulk food store and the flowers are royal icing. This cake was a lot of fun to make, and took 7.5 hours including baking the cakes.
I was quite please with the final product and the birthday girl was too !
Hi, my nearly 4 year old has fallen in love with your Snow White cottage. Please can you tell me how you created the cottage part? Did you just cut it out of icing?
We’re in Cape Town, South Africa so don’t have access to the same sweets, and things like what you used for the grass so I’ll have to improvise, but any step by step instructions and tips for making sure it all sticks together (!) would be most welcome.
Best

that was cool
