My daughter wanted green and soccer for her 8th birthday. After lots of looking, I came up with this idea.
I printed soccer ball clip art from the computer and copied to the size of the top of a cupcake. Then place wax paper over and draw/trace the outline and fill in the “spots” with candy melts. Microwave the candy melts in a decorating bag without a tip and cut a very small hole. Let the candy pictures cool and harden.
I did not like the texture of the results, but after peeling off the wax paper, the underside was smooth. Make extra to allow for breakage. I found green candy melts at my Walmart (it was a Nov birthday and Christmas colors were available). I did the same in regular chocolate and made an initial for each child. I piped white icing on the cupcakes, stiffer icing did better to prevent running off (my first few did).
I also made the icing pretty thick and when the soccer shape was placed on the icing, the white squeezed up through a little to fill in and make it look like a ball. Place the initial careful to get in a spot of “squeezed up” icing to stick. These homemade soccer cupcakes were a great hit!
