I used two 8 inch round German chocolate cakes (froze the cakes for 1/2 hour for easier cutting) for this Sock Monkey cake and frosted with coconut pecan and vanilla frosting. I used red frosting from a tube for the mouth, black gel icing for the eyes, nose, and mouth, and Twizzlers Pull ‘n’ Peel licorice for the hat.
