This spider birthday cake was made for my son’s 5th “Bug” birthday party. Once again I was asked to create a theme cake and I found many ideas on this website.
This cake was prepared using one chocolate box cake mix, baked in both a large and small mixing bowl. I used the larger bowl for the body and small bowl for the head. After the cakes cooled I frosted with chocolate frosting and covered with chocolate sprinkles to give it a fuzzy look. I used chocolate flavored licorice for the legs and cut red licorice for the fangs and candy for the eyes.
I found all of the candy at the candy store in our local mall, as most stores don’t carry chocolate licorice. This was a very easy cake to make and the kids loved it.
