Coolest Spiderman Birthday Cake

I used two 10″ round cakes and frosted them red for this Spiderman Birthday Cake. After smoothing the icing out, I pressed a homemade paper template onto the cake for one of Spidey’s eyes, then reversed it and pressed it again to get the shape of the other eye onto the cake.

Using black decorating gel, I made the web pattern. I used a toothpick to draw out the web lines a little more. Using the same paper template as before, I traced the eye shape onto rolled out white fondant (I bought it premade). Then I placed the eyes onto the markings already on the cake. I outlined the eyes black using a thick round tip.

Next I starred the blue borders (I used a much thicker star tip on the bottom border than the top). Finally, I made the spiders on the side. I used the same thick round tip as before to make the black bodies all around the cake. And I used black shoestring licorice cut into small pieces to form the legs (you could also pipe the legs onto the spiders).
