I made this Spiderman Perched on the Moon Cake for my son’s 4th birthday. He is highly allergic to eggs so I replaced the eggs with a non-egg containing egg replacer. Because cakes without eggs tend to be more fragile, I froze the cake before icing it and the icing held it together.
I used a Wilton cake pan for the Spiderman and three 9″ round pans cut progressively smaller to make the moon. The craters were created by 1st icing the moon a grayish/blue and then using the end of a icing knife with a small amount of black icing to dip out craters. My son loved it, especially when he saw Spiderman perched on top of the moon.
