This Spongebob And Patrick Cake was pretty easy to make. I got most of my ideas from one of those generic Spongebob cakes you can order from any bakery but came across the Spongebob and Patrick marshmallow pops at Toys R Us one day and decided to use them as my toppings. I thought they were so adorable and made the cake look a lot better than using regular plastic cake toppings.
So the Spongebob & Patrick were bought. The sheet cake is two 13x9in layers with vanilla frosting filling. I just used two betty crocker boxes, one for each pan. The icing all around the cake is made from buttercream that I made from Wilton’s buttercream recipe. I didn’t add any butter and used all shortening instead. I also used almond extract to keep the white icing color, since I didn’t have any clear vanilla extract in hand. Colored them with concentrated gels and decorated! The bubbles and spots on the jellyfish were filled in with the store-bought gel tubes.
The dent on the bottom left corner was made my 8 year old cousin’s elbow! Make sure there aren’t any kids around the cake display area until time to cut it!
Hope you guys like it!
