Coolest Spongebob Birthday Cake Idea

I made this Homemade Spongebob Birthday Cake Idea with help from my sister for my son’s 4th birthday. I used 2 9/13 inch pans and divided them into threes, having 6 layers, stacking one on top of another and layering buttercream frosting in between. Also to keep this from slanting over I put in a wooden dowel down the center of the cake and also used some straws for support!

I made most of the fondant from melted marshmallows, water and powdered sugar. I did buy a box too and used both, most of it is from the homemade fondant. The details like the eyes and stuff I used the box fondant which I bought in white and just added food coloring to get the colors I needed. Plankton is made from fondant so is the Crabby Patty.

I used bendy straws covered in fondant for the arms and larger straws covered in fondant for the legs. The shoes are cupcakes that I cut and shaped and covered in fondant! It was a lot of work and my first time ever making a cake like this! But in the end my son loved it!
