This is entirely made of yellow cake. I cut indents around the frame of the yellow part because Spongebob isn’t perfectly round – he’s a sponge. I used one 9×9 cake for the yellow part and half of a 9×9 for the pants. I used the other half for the pant legs, sleeves, and shoes. I just trimmed out the pieces from the left over half.
I used piping gel tinted to fill in the mouth & tongue. I used buttercream frosting for the teeth and eyes. I used a paint brush to spread it inside the outlines and to smooth the eyes. I ran out of room for the socks but again I used the paintbrush to make the socks. The shoes are made with store bought black icing. The pants are chocolate icing and the rest is homemade buttercream tinted to color.
