Coolest Spongebob Squarepants Cake

I made this Spongebob Squarepants cake for my son’s classroom party for his 6th birthday. The cake is just a 9 x 13. To get the face just right, I printed out Spongebob’s face and cut out his features one by one and used it as a template.

For the features, I used marshmallow fondant. His mouth and eyes are inlayed, not just laid on top of each other. Anything that is black is is painted on food coloring.

Obviously, Spongebob is not rocket science – I originally wanted to have him at least sitting up, but that proved to be more of a daunting task. David loved it, the kids loved it and the staff loved it.
