This is a 1st birthday cake. Large cake is 18″ in width & 4 in height. The inside is light blue cake with butter cream icing. Covered in light blue fondant and red fondant letters which were laser cut for detail. The 12″ in Cardinal and helmet on top of the cardinal is made out of sculpted rice crispy treats covered in red, yellow, black, white & light blue fondant.
The “STL” on the blue helmet and eyes were also laser cut. The red helmet is the only item that is not edible. Some of the detail with this cake is the laser cut lettering which is centered and curved and the “RJ” letters are in 3 upper layers.
The smaller homemade St. Louis Cardinals baseball cake also is a light blue cake with butter cream icing covered with light blue fondant and laser cut red fondant letters.
Tips and tricks from what I learned was to take a couple of weeks and make a couple of smaller “test” cakes before the main cake. Also to double check the size of your fridge to make sure the cake will fit !
