I made this Star Wars Death Star Cake for my stepson’s 7th birthday. He is big into Star Wars, so I decided to try to make a Death Star cake and then a flat cake that would look like some kind of slime land or forest. I think it turned out pretty good and the boy loved it.
I topped the cake with some Star Wars toys which he loved. The Death Star is a lemon cake with choc icing that I turned into black and grey so it would look like the Death Star, and the flat cake is a marble cake with vanilla icing which I made into a mossy green so it looked like slime (very cool) and it taste yummy. I used a lemon cake mix, choc cake mix and a vanilla cake mix. I also put pudding mix in the cake, it always comes out extra moist that way.
For the Death Star I used my round ball cake pan (this pan is really cool you can make any sport cake). The flat cake I used a big square pan which takes two whole cake mixes, there was so much cake left over we had enough cake to feed at least 30 and we had 15 guests.
We had everyone gather around the table with the birthday boy waiting outside. I placed the cake on the table and lit the candle then we put on Star Wars music on the computer and had the birthday boy walk in while the music was playing. We all cheered and yelled Happy Birthday. HE LOVED IT and it was a fantastic party.
