For my daughter’ 6th birthday party she requested a Strawberry Shortcake Birthday Cake! I loved Strawberry shortcake myself when I was her age so for me this was lots of fun! I bought a Wilton’s cake tin and began the party planning!
The cake pan took 2 packets of cake mix to fill. Once the cake baked then cooled I went ahead and made the frosting! Buttercream icing is what I used to pipe with and the sides that are white I just used icing sugar and water made to a thicker consistency! I drizzled the white icing down the sides and as it slowly slid down the sides of the cake it smoothed itself out nicely! I then piped the face, body and hat using the buttercream icing after making all the different colours!
For the eyes I made thicker icing sugar and water mix with a bit of black food colouring and moulded it with my fingers to get the right shape etc.
After about 2hrs of fiddly work Strawberry shortcake was finished! I think the cake looked great and was a hit at the party! It was an all girls party and they loved it!
