My youngest daughter requested a Homemade Strawberry Shortcake Birthday Cake with strawberries in it for her 3rd birthday so my husband and I got to work on yet another birthday cake creation (we team up for all of our 3 kids birthdays to come up with wonderful tasting, fun decorated cakes). I found a wonderful cake recipe incorporating strawberry puree and he made 3 batches of batter, baking two 12”x18” sheet cakes.
I used one sheet for this cake, cutting it in half to be 12”x9”. We then made a regular butter frosting and began the process of getting the right colors with Wilton cake dyes. I printed off a picture of Strawberry Shortcake from the computer, sized and cut to the right size for the cake. I then placed the cut out on the cake cutting it freehand. I iced it freehand using regular butter knives and toothpicks for the details.
We held her friend party and family dinner party on the same day so we did another cake with the second sheet and used the leftover frosting to turn it into a rectangular strawberry with Shortcake figures on the top. The cake was incredible moist and delicious and once again the look on my daughter’s face was priceless!
Where did you get the cake pan for the new strawberry shortcake?
