This was my first attempt at a Super Mario Birthday Cake. My 4 year old son wanted a “Batman” party and at the last minute decided his cake should be Super Mario. I had a great time making this cake, and enjoyed all the “OMG…YOU made this cake?” at the party.
I took a half sheet cake and topped it with an eight inch cake. The top cake “Mario” was then covered in rolled fondant. The ears are sculpted fondant as are the “goomba’s”. I cut out all the features of Mario from fondant. I used a knife to indent the brick pattern and used buttercream for the question marks. Needless to say I have much more confidence to do my next 2 childrens cakes!!!
