My friend’s little boys have birthdays very close together so this Superheros Birthday Cake was for both of them. They wanted the Hulk, Spiderman, and Superman on the cake so I decided to give each character their own levels instead of just putting action figures on it.
The bottom layer is a 13 by 17 cake pan. I decorated it to look like a spiderweb and put one of the boy’s names in the web to appear as if the spider drew his name.
The second layer was made with an 11 by 7 pan. All I did for this layer was to color it hulk green and then put the hulk in the cake and filled in around his feet like they broke through the ground (after the Superman part was done).
The last and hardest part of the cake was the superman symbol. I cut a stencil out of stiff cardboard and then cut a 9 by 9 cake into the shape of the symbol. I then frosted the blue edge of the cake and put it on the stack of cakes before finishing the detail (this way I could move the cake without really messing it up). I then used the stencil to trace the symbol with a knife(gently) and filled in the proper areas with the colors.
The boys thought this cake was “Wow!! Supercool”
