My grandson Parker wanted a Superman party last year. I started this Superman Birthday Cake with a 16 inch round cake pan for the bottom cake. A 12 inch was used for the middle layer. I used one half of the Wilton soccer ball cake pan for the top layer.
Using butter cream icing I iced the lower and middles layers. I added the half round to the top after icing to look like the planet Earth. A small Wilton star tip was used to make the map of the Earth.
I then added a Superman topper that lit up. I made fondant and cut the shape of stars to spell out Parker’s name. Then I trimmed with a Wilton shell tip and dots. I made each child attending the party a satin super hero cape, 26 to be exact. We had a wonderful party.
A friend’s son wanted a Superman cake. I’m just starting out and learning to bake and decorate. I saw this cake and decided I was going to go for it and try to see if I could make one like it and I did it. It isn’t as good as yours but the fact that I did ok and my friend and her son loved it made me more confident in myself. I just want to thank you for helping me. :)
This may seem like a silly question but are there two 16 inch cakes and two 12 inch cakes layered together? Or just one of each size?
They are double layer cakes….both sizes. :)
May ask where you found the light up superman on top of the cake?the cake is amazing, your grandson would have been delighted to see that cake comeout.
I found the topper on line. Not sure of the site.
