Coolest Teapot Birthday Cake

For my daughter’s second birthday, she wanted a tea party. I made this teapot birthday cake after searching various websites and viewing tons of photos online! The table is a basic 9″ cake covered with prepared fondant for the table cloth (I inserted a ramekin in the center during baking to provide more support for the heavy teapot cake).

The teapot is two half-spheres baked in a stainless steel bowl. I used prepared fondant and cookie cutters for most of the decoration, but the swirls and dots are frosting. The cake baking and shaping was the hardest part, along with the fondant spout and handle – the handle fell off at least three times and never ended up looking like it was intended.

I let the handle and spout dry overnight with lollipop sticks inserted for support. Unfortunately, they were still pretty heavy – definitely don’t attach them to your cake until just before your guests arrive!
