Coolest Teapot Birthday Cake

I made the Teapot Birthday Cake with packet chocolate mix and did it a few days before my daughter’s birthday so I would have more time (and less stress) in icing the cake the night before. I am glad I did this because it did take me a while!

I baked the 2 halves of the teapot in large soup mugs. They were a bit too high so I had to slice the top off both. That way when I placed them together they had a teapot shape. I popped them in the freezer til the night before the party.

I used a white chocolate icing and tried to dye this pink with red dye, but realized white chocolate icing is actually yellow, so adding red did not make pink. Anyway, changed my mind and went for this purple shade instead.

I placed a row of small white marshmallows along the edge where the 2 cake halves joined to try disguise the join line there. This worked OK. I also needed to disguise the messy bottom of the cake where the icing was displaced with moving the cake onto the cake tray, so used more marshmallows there.

I made the handle and the spout out of bought white fondant icing and used 2 toothpicks for each to attach them securely to the cake. They held their position well.

I did not want to spoil the cake appearance with the candles, so used the spare cake chopped up and topped with icing in a teacup instead. I was happy with how this looked.

Overall I was really pleased with how the cake turned out and the birthday girl thought it was cute so I was happy!
