This cake was made for my daughter’s class party for Valentines Day. It was a chocolate cake with butter cream icing. I started by baking 2 cakes using a medium glass bowl, and two cakes using a small glass bowl. Then baked one 8 in square cake.
First I stacked the two medium bowl cakes on top of each other to form a ball shape and then iced the whole cake with butter cream to seal it. Then stack the small bowl cakes to form a ball shape on top of the body and again ice the cake. Stick a dowel through your cake for stability, next cut out the legs from the square cake, place in front of the body and ice with frosting.
Cut the rest of the cake to form the arms, this will take a little time. As there is no real way to describe how to fix the arms I had to redo them a few times. I placed a small piece of cake on the board with icing on top, then more cake and icing till I got the look I wanted. Then let the homemade teddy bear cake sit for about 20 min till the icing hardens.
Next I took some brown butter cream and a grass tip, (you can get this form Wilton’s), and tipped the entire cake. Then black dots for the eyes, and white circle with black dots and lines for the face, for the ears I just tipped till they looked like ears.
