This Homemade Tie Dye Birthday Cake was requested by a customer for her daughter’s 12th birthday. They wanted a tie dye cake that was colorful inside as well as out. It was a lot of fun to make.
I started with dyeing the cake batter the 6 colors of the rainbow. I sprayed the half sheet pan with bakers joy. Then I took the red batter and poured it in the pan. I spread it and shook the pan until the red covered the bottom. I then continued the rainbow order with orange, yellow, green, blue and purple. For those I just drizzled the cake in alternating directions.
I got the cake ready for icing and iced it with white buttercream. I then traced some of the design on the cake with a toothpick. I then did all the tie dye icing effect. I did the border with a shell tip.
The cake was a total hit and I have gotten many raves about it!
This is awesome!! Can’t wait to make one! Thanks for posting :)
