My son wanted a TinTin party ( “Kuifie” in Afrikaans) for his 8th Birthday. I then decided to make the theme of the party “TinTin the journalist”. So I brought in the idea of newspapers, which I then used on the cake for a background, I printed that on rice paper.
In South Africa the “Beeld” is one of our local newspapers. My son also loved the TinTin movie, so that is how I came up with the idea of the movie/film strip. I made the film strip from fondant icing and then printed some of the TinTin book covers as the film strip on rice paper. For the focal point I shaped one of the TinTin’s on the cover in 3D with fondant.
The party packs were made from newspaper bags, which was closed with a pencil, to continue the journalist theme. A journalist card was also attached to each pack, with the child’s name and job description like “photographer” /” journalist” on it. The pack also included a note book for the necessary investigation work, the little journalist would have to dot down, during their investigative games.

This is absolutely great. My daughter wants A tintin party which i am organising for her. It is going to be on the 8th of June. Your cake looks fab and i need more information. Did you have a bakery print it on rice paper? How did you do it? As you can probably gather i am not. Great at these things but very keen and want to do it all myself, so help please.
Also did you just let the kids play or did you have an entertainer? We have an entertainer for 1,5 h and sophia has said she wants the ” baddies” to catch her and then snowy (her little sister) to rescue her:) that is all that is planned so far! I do love the newspaper idea as well, i can makethe bags myself? Do you have any pictures? I really hope you will get this and if you do, please help:)
Also the invitation can be an advert in the paper i guess with a red ring around it:) oh my days, hiw do i create that?:) why do i do this to myself every time?:)
