I made this Tinkerbell Birthday Cake for my daughter’s 3rd birthday. She loves Tinkerbell so I came to this site for inspiration. I saw another cake in the shape of a tree stump and I loved the idea since I already had the little Tinkerbell doll.
I was short on time so I used cake mix for three round 9″ pans to create the shape of the tree stump. I then used Rice Krispie treats to create the tree’s stump detail. After the layers were put together and I put on a thin layer of frosting I used chocolate fondant to cover the stump.
Several days prior to making the cake I created the butterflies, inch worms, ladybugs and mushrooms from gum paste so they could dry and harden. I had the pink flowers (store bought) left over from a previous cake so, I used them for the base of the tree stump.
I used a spoon to create a bark pattern on the fondant and gold cake spray paint for the ring design on the top. Once I sprayed the top of the cake I used a basting brush to make the rings.
Tinkerbell took her place on top of the stump and the cake was an instant hit with all the guests.
