My son’s friend was turning four and we really wanted to do something special for her so we decided to offer to make her cake. She was thrilled with the idea. Her party theme was Tinkerbell. I asked what colors she would like and then started to brain storm for ideas after that. The colors she wanted the cake to be were purple, green and pink. I knew I wanted to do a three tier homemade Tinkerbell birthday cake so I started sketching it out. I wanted a pink flower on top with a Tinkerbell toy she could later play with.
I decided to frost the whole cake purple, the border and a free hand design around the sides green. I found the big pink (fake) flower that would be used for the top of the cake on sale for $4.00 at Walmart. I got the Tinkerbell doll on sale at Toysrus for $4.99.
I always use Pillsbury cake mix. I baked each layer and let them cool. I then trimmed the top of each layer to make them level. I then wrapped them in plastic wrap and off to the freezer for a few days. The day before the party I took them out. I put Vanilla pudding between each layer. I then frosted and decorated.
Do you provide outside services?
I REALLY love the green designs on the sides. Is the purple buttercream and if so, how do you smooth it?
