I made this Tinkerbell cake for my daughter’s 5th birthday. We were in Disney only a month before her birthday and she was still obsessed with Tinkerbell and all her Pixie Hollow friends.
The cake itself was boxed mix. It took 3 recipes to make all the layers. The bottom layer was made in a 13″ round pan. On top of that were 2 9″ round cakes placed slightly (less than 1 inch) offset. The top layer was made in a 9″ Pyrex bowl. (The bowl cake took quite a while to bake.) The top was also slightly offset.
The entire cake was given a quick skim coat of icing to contain the crumbs and allowed to dry. Once dry, white icing was mixed with leaf green food gel color to create the grassy area of Pixie Hollow. Using a toothpick, I lightly sketched out the area I would later make into the waterfall. I then used to green frosting on the rest of the cake.
Sky blue gel color was then mixed into more of the white icing. I left some white marbling to add depth to the water. Using downward and circular motions, I added the blue icing to create the effect of water. I had purchased Wilton’s blue shimmer gel and added that to the water area and blended it in slightly.
Tink was given her rightful place at the top of the cake. I then added the royal icing flowers I made a few days earlier and sprinkled the entire cake with white edible glitter.
My daughter was beyond excited when she saw her special cake. Surprisingly, the time it took to actually decorate the cake was minimal (less than an hour).
do you think you could email me the recipe my daughter has been asking for a tinkerbell cake this one is real nice
Hi! I’m turning 17 this week and I love your cake! My mom is going to try to make a replica of it. We had one question though. What did you use for the rocks and pebbles in the water?
Thanks so much!
