This Tinkerbell’s House Birthday Cake would have to be the most fun cake I made for my daughter’s 5 year old birthday party. Helped having my mum around as an assistant for another past midnight evening.
The house is made of three cakes on top of each other and then shaped accordingly. I always ice with thick butter icing first and then lay the soft fondant icing over top. I’m not a great fan of fondant icing so I kept the sides of the house in coloured butter icing this time. I liked the roughness of it and it gave amble “glue” to stick the windows and door in. I wasn’t brave enough to make it into a tree house and decided at 12am a nice little garden path will do quite nicely!
The roof leaves were made by pressing into a plastic lettuce leaf that one of the kids had in a play food set. The path is dried out fondant crumpled. The window verandas I lay over straws under and over the fondant icing and left to dry hard (make a day before). However I am sure there would be a better solution to get a corrugated veranda.
This was a pretty easy cake but quite time consuming. Give it a go just start a couple of days before!
