I started this Tow Mater Cake Idea with a chocolate 13 x 9 cake. After it was cooled and chilled I cut in half length wise. On half I cut a little curve off on end for the front of the truck and then iced the top of this piece.
The other half I cut in three equal sections. I iced the top of one and place the 2nd piece on top for the cab of the truck. The third piece I cut a little square out of it to make the bed.
I then placed the cab of the truck on top of the bottom piece and then the bed of the truck behind the cab with the missing section against the cab. I frosted the whole cake with chocolate icing. I used mini peanut butter cups for the wheels and the motor. I used chocolate twizzlers and fruit roll ups for the tow mechanism. Chocolate twizzlers were also used for the mirrors.
His teal and green paint show through was achieved by mixing up the two colors and spreading here and there. I outlined his “eyes” with a toothpick and piped on white icing and then piped on green icing for his eyes. His teeth was part of a sucker I found at a craft store. I also placed 2 yellow jelly beans on the top of his cab for his lights.
I had a great time creating this and my nephew loved it!!
