I used many of the ideas already on this website for a Toy Story Birthday Cake Design. The Toy Story cakes that were created on this website were awesome, so felt I like I had big shoes to fill.
Unfortunately I have never used fondant, so I decided to take everyone’s ideas and simplify them for my son’s 6th birthday. I used a half sheet cake pan, baked according to the directions, cooled it, wrapped it and froze it so it would be easier to ice (it was a chocolate butter cake recipe).
My son wanted half of the cake to be Woody, Jessie, and Bullseye in the desert and Buzz, Zurg and the aliens in space on the right side with the moon in the middle. I used Toy Story figurines and placed them accordingly on the cake once it was iced. Really, it was the simplest cake I have made, but looked store bought (in my opinion).
So this cake is great to do if you don’t have a lot of time or you are just beginning to make cakes.
