I made this homemade Toy Story cake for my son’s 6th birthday party. The “hardwood floor” is made out of a 9×13 cake pan and butter cream icing. I used a ruler to mark the wood planks. The bed is made out of a loaf pan and butter cream icing covered with marshmallow fondant. I used a left over piece of cake for the pillow and covered it in marshmallow fondant as well.
Woody, Buzz, Rex and the Etch a Sketch are all store bought figures but the rest of the characters I made myself with marshmallow fondant. I’m still not very experienced with fondant work so each character took me about 30 minutes to make. The ‘Happy Birthday’ sign was also made out of fondant held up by 2 stir sticks.
I think this homemade Toy Story cake was a lot of fun and was a big hit at my son’s party.
I just wanted to say “wow” so cool. I love your cake! How did you make the headboard of this cake?
I would love to replicate this for my daughter’s birthday. Can you tell me what size the figures are?
Hi there,
Where do you live?
My daughter would love a cake like this one.
Beautiful!!!
Could you tell me how to do the headboard? What did you use, etc? How much fondant did you use?
Thanks everyone!
I made the headboard out of a piece of scrapbooking paper and glued it to a study piece of cardstock.
I probably used much less than one batch of the regular marshmallow fondant.
The figures are pretty small. Maybe 1.5 inch-ish.
