I made this homemade Toy Story cake for my friend’s son, who turned 5. She told me what she wanted and this is the outcome =)
It is a 9X12, 4 layer, chocolate cake (recipe is on the back of the Hershey’s Cocoa box) with Wilton’s Buttercream Frosting and Marshmallow Fondant. After I put the blue fondant on the cake, I trimmed it, leaving the corners hanging, to make it look like a quilt and used the Wilton Cutter Embosser to make the stitch lines. I put yellow fondant stars on it by brushing the back of the stars with water.
The pillow is just a block of the left over blue fondant covered with yellow to make the pillow case. I used a My Little Steamer to steam the fondant and make it shiny and get rid of excess powdered sugar left on the fondant. It is topped off with Toy Story toys, purchased from Walmart.
not only did she create the look we were hoping for, but the flavor was amazing! it was a hit at the party!
