For this Toy Story Cake I wanted to go with the Toy Story Theme without actually drawing a picture of a specific character. The birthday boy’s favorite character was Buzz Lightyear, so I tried to focus the bottom layer on Buzz. He has a lot of green and purple lines and red buttons. The top layer was obviously designed with the Toy Story logo in mind.
The clouds are also part of Toy Story’s details. I was going to do the lettering with fondant, but the cut-outs I had were the wrong font and just taking too long. So I decided to just pipe them on with frosting. The cake was a yellow Betty Crocker cake mix and I used homemade buttercream frosting. The red details were actually Wilton premade red fondant. I used a 12 inch round pan for the bottom layer and an 8 inch round pan for the top.
I let the decorated cake sit in the refrigerator overnight and in the morning I barely wet my finger with water to smooth out the yellow icing on the lettering. I was very happy with how this cake turned out. Hope it helps inspire you!
I think this cake is super cute!!! I love the simple idea of no charachters but you can tell at 1st glance it is a toy story cake. love it!!!
