I made this Tractor Birthday Cake Design for my grandson Billy’s 3rd birthday. He lives in the country side near a farm. He loves tractor’s. I have made cakes for my other grandchildren in the past, but nothing with dark icing. I tried to colour the icing with liquid colour. This was unsuccessful as the icing went to soft. I looked on your website and found one lady had used sugar craft icing ready coloured.
I found a cake decorating shop that sold the icing. It was amazing to use. The ploughed field on the board is sugar craft icing chocolate flavour. The Lincoln green was the perfect colour for the John Deere tractor. The field at the front of the tractor is coconut with green food dye. The sponge cake is chocolate flavour, with chocolate butter cream under the icing. The hay bales are made of white icing painted with food dye. I took me several hours to complete but was well worth it. Billy thought it was wonderful.
