My son LOVES trains, and has since he was about 9 months old. I had made him the train cake from Wilton his 2nd birthday, but he wanted an entire train track this time. I made a simple cake in 2 round cake pans and cut a small piece of each so the would sit next to each other in a figure 8 type pattern. I then frosted the cake entirely with green frosting.
I bought Twizzlers pull-and-peels in cherry and black licorice. I cut the cherry pull and peels to make the individual tracks and then I laid the black licorice out to be the track itself. I had my son pick out 2 of his favorite trains and a piece from his train set. We set them on the tracks and then I wrote out his name in chocolate frosting, along with his age. All my cake tips were packed away, so I had to improvise with a plastic bag with a small hole in it to write his name and age.
