This was a Treasure Chest Birthday Cake I made for my child’s 3rd pirate birthday with ideas I found off the net. It was cooked in a 13×9 pan. I cut a 2in wide section off and then evenly cut the cake in half to make the top and bottom. The 2in wide section was than cut into a triangle shape to hold the lid open.
I pieced it together with the triangle shapes on the far sides of the bottom and then placed the top on and frosted with chocolate icing. I outlined with yellow icing and used small brown M&M’s to decorate the chest. I filled the inside with chocolate coins & candy necklaces. And placed the cake on crushed graham crackers (which hopefully looked like sand).
It was a fun cake to make and the kids loved the extra treats.
