This treasure chest cake I made with my mom for my twin son’s third birthday. We threw them a pirate party- complete with a treasure hunt and treasure chest cake. It was a big hit.
We used sugar paper to coat the cake and achieve the wood look. Fondant was used for the straps, lock, and adornments. We used a Styrofoam wedge to prop up the lid of the cake and hid it with all of the candy. This cake traveled really well.
I love the wood grain look and was wondering if you can give me some info on what sugar paper is, how to use it and where to purchase it. Thank you
how did you make it look like wood and how did you make the top of it? It looks so great
I was wondering if you could tell me how many cakes it took you to achieve this look.
You can go to your local Walmart and have them print you off a piece. It’s like 8″ x 11″ sheet for $6 ish
You will need to have a copy of the print you want. Basically it’s like edible sugar made on rice paper. It taste horrible by itself. : )
that’s the coolest i have seen so far must know how u did it.
How did you achieve the rounded top to the cake?
What type of pan did you use and how did you make the top round?
How do you make rounded top. I need to make one this week
