This Treasure Chest Cake was made for my son’s 1st grade teacher for her birthday. His whole class was decorated in a pirate theme so I thought a treasure chest would be perfect.
I made 2 13×9. I cut one in half and stacked them on each other. I then frosted that part of the cake. I bought gold coin candy and candy rocks and put them on top of the cake and spilling out of it. I then cut the other 13×9 to make a top for the chest. I put the top on and frosted it. I used candy for the decorations on the top of the chest. I ground up graham crackers very fine and spread them around the cake so it looked as though the cake was sitting in sand.
It was a huge hit with his teacher and all of the kids. Fun cake!!
