My son wanted a pirate party so I looked all over the internet to find ideas. I took several ideas of treasure map cakes and compiled them to this creation.
I used pirate toys for decor, several colors of store bought icing and funfetti cake mix (it is a family fave). I made a 13×9 sized cake and also made a small oval cake to create a raised island look in the corner of the cake. I used play gold coins along the side of the cake.
The water was made from blue gel icing but I added white icing to show a wave effect. The sand areas is smashed gram crackers to give the effect that there is really sand, gold from the chest is edible glitter flakes.
I just got creative and had fun with it. I think it looks pretty good for a first timer. I can’t wait to make another cake, I never realized how much fun I could have with this. Look for me again next month for my other son’s 1st birthday!
