I made this under the sea cake with four boxed cakes. The first tier is vanilla and the 2nd one is chocolate. This was my first attempt at a tiered cake and while it wasn’t easy, I am pleased with the result.
The octopus on top was supposed to be made from cake too, using a baseball mold, but I could not find one in the stores and I didn’t have time to order one online, so I just used a Styrofoam ball. I figured we don’t eat the bride and groom cake topper at a wedding, so it’s OK to remove the octopus before we eat this cake.
This was my practice cake, as I wanted to be sure I could pull it off before my son’s first birthday party. It was a lot of fun!
