The Little Mermaid is a white chocolate colored mold using a Wilton cake pan, also the shells and under the sea creatures are also white chocolate molds. The sand is brown sugar.
This Under The Sea Cake was for my daughter’s 3rd birthday. I used regular boxed cake mix, and Wilton icing. The octopus mold is a Williams Sonoma cake pan. The mermaid is inserted in the cake using lollipop sticks that were placed in the chocolate before it set. The sea creatures are also on lollipop sticks to give them different heights. The little mermaid mold should be done the day before as well as the other molds this makes it much easier when you are ready to decorate the cake.
I use Wilton icing because it is ready made and I do not have to clean up the mess, it also holds up much better than the can frosting from the grocery store ( in my opinion). The cake was really a big hit and it was my first mermaid cake ever.
That mermaid is awesome, and quite a bit of chocolate! The whole cake is a real eye catcher, good job!
Absolutely beautiful! Just wondered how you coloured the mermaid out of chocolate.
