I made this Wrist Watch Cake for my stepson Brian who is obsessed with watches. I am an amateur baker and this is only my 5th cake of this caliber that I have made. It was a lot of fun, although time consuming. The details is what I think makes the cake so neat. Brian said it was my best cake.
It took me two days and about 20 hours with my sister’s help.
I hope you all enjoy it!
This cake is so awesome especially from an amateur. Good job!
AWESOME job!
HI,
I love your cake! Its awesome and a wonderful idea!
Please can you post here how you made it, like if you used rolled fondant, colors and what all to make it?
Thanks,
Swati.
Hi please can you tell how you made the links of the chain & the watch face? its awesome!
Hi Ladies,
Thank you so much for your kind comments about the cake I made for Brian.
The way I made the links was with fondant. I baked two small rectangular cakes for each side. Attached it to the round face cake and rolled out fondant to cover each. Then I rolled out a long piece and then cut them so they would all be the same. I attached it to the cake with frosting and finally painted it silver. I used silver dust and a little lemon juice.
The rest of the cake was also fondant and food coloring for the writing.
Good luck!
Carla
