My nephew is 13 and asked for an Xbox cake for his birthday. My sister and I decided to try and make one instead of buying one (if we even knew where to find one). Kyle was the happiest 13 year old I’ve seen when he saw the cake. He didn’t want to cut it. He wanted to keep it forever.
We started by baking 2 cakes in the largest rectangle pans we could find. We leveled the cake when it was cool and placed them on top of each other with a butter creme center.
We then grabbed our Xbox and did our best to carve the cake to look like the Xbox shape. We covered the cake in fondant and then cut little circles for the venting and used green butter creme icing for the power button and the lettering.
The remotes I created out of fondant and very carefully made the little joysticks out of gumpaste to stand out. He is keeping the remotes as a keepsake.
This is by far one of my most favorite cakes We have made thus far. Plus when it was all said and done, there might have been an icing sugar fight.
