This Xbox Controller birthday cake was my first attempt at a sculpted cake and it was a lot easier than I had feared. Took two pan cakes and stacked them on top of each other and then I had printed a picture of an Xbox controller out on my printer and used it as a rough stencil.
Then it was just all about the frosting. After the frosting started to set up a little bit I took a damp paper towel and smoothed out the sides to make it look nice and smooth. My only issue was trying to get the nice dark grey color. Make sure and get the nice dye from a cake shop when you want black or grey frosting. Otherwise it will just become purple! That is a frustration I won’t experience again!
