My entire family loves Yo Gabba Gabba, especially since my husband is an actual dj, like dj Lance. So, it only made sense to throw a Yo Gabba Gabba party for our son, who turned 7 and make him a Yo Gabba Gabba Birthday Cake.
I made a 10X10 square cake and covered it with white fondant. Then I painted each side to represent the different backgrounds for each character. I cut out and painted the “front” details, the trees, bushes, etc.
Then I made another cake out of a couple of sheet cakes, cut into fourths width wise and filled and stacked. I also covered this with gray fondant, and added the different colored elements to make the front of the boom box.
I had found some wireless led lights at Michaels, in the bridal section of all places, and I used them on the front of the boom box cake, they blinked when I turned them on which looked so awesome!!
I ordered figurines off of eBay and set them around the cake, and topped off the cake with gumpaste letters and a big gumpaste 7 which I had painted with food paint, and of course, 7 funky candles.
We are total Yo Gabba Gabba fans also I want to do the same kind of cake for my sons 2nd b day. Great job I hope mine comes out as nice.
Great Job!!! I wish I had the talent to do something like this for my son’s 1st b’day party! Anyway, just wanted to give you kudos :).
