I created this Homemade Yo Gabba Gabba Cake Idea for a little boy’s 1st birthday. I began working on the fondant characters almost 2 weeks in advance, since this was the first time I was doing a Yo Gabba Gabba cake. They took some effort and patience, but overall, it wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be.
I still haven’t figured out to really make little pieces stick well (such as the little antenna’s on Plex and the eyeballs of the figurines). I’ve tried piping gel, icing, and water. If anyone has tips and tricks for me, I would greatly appreciate them.
This is also the first time I used rods for the cake since the bottom layer was yellow cake, the second chocolate cake (very heavy), and the third layer red velvet (also very heavy).
Hi, a good adhesive is clear vanilla extract, or a few tiny pieces of gumpaste, diluted in a bowl of water. Makes everything stick REALLY well.
I cake bake a cake but definitely not decorate one. Any interest since you live in Manhattan that you would want to make one for my daughter’s birthday party in June? We live in Hoboken NJ. Email me at tammy.defreitas@yahoo.com and subject message yo gabba gabba cake. I hope you see this post.
