I made this Zebra purse birthday cake for friends daughter’s 10th birthday. Her theme was Zebra and Gliz. I started by making the toppers for cupcakes and the decorations around the cake about a week before, to allow time for them to dry. This is all done with fondant and gum paste.
It was all edible accept for the mirror in the compact, that was made out of a piece of foil. I used an 8″ round cake cut in half filled and trimmed to look like a purse. This was my first attempt at using fondant.
The whole thing took me about seven hours. Everyone at the party loved it. I have since gotten 3 orders for different themes. I am excited to get started. I was surprised how easy it really was.
