The bottom is made from a very large sheet cake pan with 3 circles. cakes on top, 12″,9″ and 6″. I covered all with bright green icing. I used a smooth crusting buttercream recipe so that it could be smoothed.
After the initial crumbcoat, I let it sit in the fridge. I took it out and put the second coat on and smoothed it. Then I put Oreos in the food processor to create the dirt. Then, I spread the Oreo dirt on the bottom layer. For the carrots, I used starburst and twizzler candy. Melt the orange starburst in the microwave for about 10 seconds–no more then cut a diagonal line across to make two carrots. Cut a little piece of green twizzler for the top and mold the starburst around it. Shape it like a carrot and put it on wax paper.
For the cabbage, I melted some green frosting in the microwave for like 20 seconds, then dumped in corn flakes. Spread them evenly on wax paper to dry. These are your cabbage leaves. For the center, I used Sweet Tart runts. The pumpkins are made from circus peanuts.
Then I added farm animals. The barn at the top is a craft from Oriental trading. I used these as his invitation, except with the invitation I put a picture in.
Finally, I piped in the yellow circles as a border just using a cirlce tip.
Wow! I love your cake!!
you are very talented, your mother must be proud. I bet the apple does not fall from the tree.
